Looking ahead: School Shooters .info 4.0

The School Shooters .info team is hard at work on a new version of this website. School Shooters .info 4.0 will represent a complete overhaul of the functionality and design of the site and will introduce a wealth of new data, features, and documents. As part of the reimagining of the site, every in-house document (i.e., every document created or redesigned by us) is in the process of being newly copyedited, typeset, and proofread to higher standards than ever before. In anticipation of the launch of SS.I 4.0, we are publishing some of these new versions of documents on the current site. Such newly edited and designed documents are marked with “[SS.I 4.0]” at the start of their descriptions. These documents should be considered provisional, and we may continue to make small adjustments to them without incrementing their version numbers. Normal versioning will resume once the new website is launched. More information on the next iteration of School Shooters .info will be posted on this page as our work progresses.

Update, 7 July 2025: Introducing DOIs

We are proud to announce that, with the upcoming launch of School Shooters .info 4.0, all of our documents created in-house will carry DOIs for the first time. In preparation for this, we are assigning DOIs to documents as we re-edit and re-typeset them, meaning that some documents on the current site — the ones listed below — already have DOIs assigned. Many of our readers will already be familiar with the concept of DOIs, digital identifiers for academic articles and other documents that are widely used in academic citations. Adding DOIs makes it easier than ever before for researchers to find, share, and cite our documents.

School Shooters .info DOIs always begin with the sequence “10.64247/” and conclude with a series of six digits. Once the new site is launched, going to the URL https://doi.org/, followed by one of our DOIs, will lead you to information about the relevant document and a link to the current version of the document on our site. Please note that our DOIs will not be active in this way until the launch of School Shooters .info 4.0. In the meantime, some researchers may be comfortable citing our documents by DOI, knowing that these locators will eventually be active; others may prefer to wait until the relaunch, at which point our DOIs will be registered with the international authorities and will function accordingly.

DOIs for our in-house documents may be found at the foot of the first page. They are also included in the PDF file metadata. These DOIs are intended to be stable across all versions of a document; in other words, they will not change when a document is revised and will always point to the most current version of the document.
